Day 87, 1800 grams
So not entirely sure if it was just low hemoglobin or an infection, but regardless, I'm feeling much better. I'm still under close watch though. We're all hoping that I don't need antibiotics. Antibiotics are like your secret weapon: if you use your secret weapon too many times, it's not much of a secret anymore, is it?
The major news today is regarding my eyes. I had another test today and it looks like things aren't improving. Two eye doctors confirmed this, and they're going to give me another 48 hours to see if anything improves, but it's likely that I'll have to have eye surgery now. The surgery, I'm told, is much like laser eye surgery that adults get, but one of the drawbacks is that the process will destroy my peripheral vision. Please bear this in mind if you are planning on throwing me any frisbees or footballs in the future! I know this is not the best news, but it's better than being blind. We take what we can get here.
I'll take these sunken eyes and learn to see.

retinopatija – kako je vaše dijete prerano rođeno, razvoj oka nije dovršen. Zato se retina (stražnji dio oka koji prima informaciju koju prednji dio oka propušta do nje, pa se putem očnog živca ta informacija prenosi mozgu) redovito kontrolira još dok je vaše dijete u inkubatoru, a i poslije. Postoje 5 stupnjeva retinopatije, kod 4. stupnja dijete raspoznaje na tom oku samo svjetlost i mrak, a 5. stupanj je sljepilo. Na Rebru, a i u Rusiji i Njemačkoj, operativno laserom rješavaju manje stupnjeve. Neki će vam liječnici reći da je retinopatija povezana s djetetovim boravkom u inkubatoru s kisikom, ali je dokazano da to nema veze s kisikom, nego s nedozrelošću oka.

hello lilttle man i havent forgotten about you i have been reading your progress way to go on the bottle feeds!!! thank you for not desaturating during our 10 min of ventolin together you were even trying to stand up and walk away from me stronger than i thought!!! sorry about needing another surgery but its for the best i guess i know you will still be a heartthrob you will still be able to scope out the honey's when you get older (like 25 of course i would never say earlier than that lol) all the best keep getting bigger!!!
